TOURISM

Enhancing our exceptional natural heritage

How to get to the Yikpa waterfall

The Plateaux region is the largest and most fertile of Togo's regions. It is made up of varied natural landscapes, and its inhabitants have managed to protect its unique biodiversity due to the region's characteristic subtropical climate. These include the classified Missahoé forest, home to the largest concentration of butterflies in the world. Once subject to poaching, it is now a protected area with well-kept secrets. Mount Agou, Togo's highest peak, offers magnificent panoramic views over the surrounding plains. Or the famous Yikpa waterfall, the highest in West Africa, on the border with Ghana, a breathtaking natural spectacle.

But the region's tourism potential is not limited to its natural heritage. The people of the Plateaux region are also skilled craftsmen and artists. Most of the region's crafts are produced in the Kloto region. The Tové craft center, just a few kilometers from Kpalimé, remains a benchmark in this field in Togo. Many of the region's inhabitants earn their daily bread from spinning, pottery and the manual manufacture of knives, cutters, hoes and the like.

As you can see, the Plateaux region is a natural and cultural jewel waiting to be showcased. However, websites and forums don't provide road books or exhaustive inventories of tourist products, so visitors aren't guaranteed the best possible experience. That's why, through this tourism project, we want to develop a directory of quality tourist attractions. Our ambition is to create a link between visitors and local experts. Our aim is to develop a quality tourism offering that matches the region's potential.

Our mission:

- Draw up a detailed inventory of the local tourist heritage, research tourist attractions, meet and put local service providers in touch with each other, test and evaluate tourist products.

- Design of tourism products, drafting of the road book on the existing circuit, budgeting and pricing, logistical organization (accommodation, food, transport, guide), market research and feasibility study.

- Marketing and promotion, on social networks and the internet, canvassing of visitor reception areas, creation of communication media (photos and videos). Highlighting local players. Accompany visits and collect feedback to ensure constant improvement of services and products.

- Develop the association's receptive side, enabling us to welcome foreign tourists and show them around our region.
